Days 25 & 26

Certain circumstances meant that Day 25 was all a bit of a muddle and I wasn’t sure if I would manage to hit my daily quota, but weather-wise it had been a nice day so I finally managed to take the dogs for a very pleasant early evening walk in the sunshine and I managed to get just over my target. Day 26 was very much the same and I only just about scraped over the target 10,000 but at least I got there even if it wasn’t by much.

Days 23 & 24

After a week of glorious weather Day 23 started wet, miserable and much cooler than of late, though by early afternoon it was fine with short intermittent bursts of sunshine. Work-wise it was the busiest day of the week for me, especially at my evening job, so a greater proportion of my steps were done while at work and a short evening dog walk took my daily total to just over the target.

Day 24 started off fine but dull, though by lunch time it had brightened up and the sun appeared a few times during the afternoon. A quick trip into town turned out longer than I’d intended as I couldn’t find what I’d gone for and had to look in several shops spread over a large area so I racked up the steps without realising it, and with the evening dog walk I was well over my daily quota so the little man in the corner was very happy.

Days 21 & 22

Day 21 wasn’t quite as hot as the previous days but it was still very warm so again the bulk of the dog walking was kept to the evening when it was cooler. Day 22 was sunny with a refreshing breeze which made things much more pleasant; it was also my last morning for looking after Aphra so I took her for a nice walk up to the Blue Lagoon and back then in the afternoon I took my own two over to my local park and back. Both walks plus my steps at work took me just over my daily target so I was happy with that.

Days 19 & 20

Day 19 was another hot and humid day and every exertion made me feel like I was melting. With no work to go to until late afternoon, and as a rest after the previous day’s long walk, I decided to take it easy with the dog walking so I stuck to local walks with my own two and Aphra, and by the end of the day I’d only done just over the target. Weather-wise Day 20 was very much the same so I kept the main dog walk until the evening when it was just a bit cooler.

Days 17 & 18

Day 17 was another gloriously sunny day with the temperature still rising. I took my friend’s dog Aphra part way round the Blue Lagoon reservoir in the morning then in the afternoon I took my own two all the way round. Added to the steps I did while shopping in my local Asda at lunch time I finished the day with quite a healthy step count.

Day 17
Day 18 was yet another hot and sunny day with a walk round the village playing field with Aphra in the morning, then in the afternoon I took Sophie and Poppie round a reservoir I hadn’t been to for about twenty years. As I walked I was sure the route had changed from how I remembered it though, and it seemed to be much further round than I thought. It all added to the step count though, and when I checked at the end of the evening I’d totally smashed the 10,000 target – I’m sure the little man in the corner would have jumped up and down if he could.

Days 15 & 16

Day 15 was gloriously sunny and getting warmer. Now looking after a friend’s dog for a few days, as soon as she had left for the station I took the dog for a walk part way round the reservoir in her village. Added to the walk round my local park with my own two that afternoon I finished the day with quite a good step count. Day 16 was warmer still, and though work commitments gave me a bit less time for dog walking the step count was still good.

Days 11 & 12

Day 11 was another damp and dreary day and it was well into the evening before it stayed fine long enough for me to go out for a reasonable walk, which meant that I only just scraped over my daily target. Day 12 was very much the same but also very windy, and again most of my steps were done on an evening dog walk once it came fine.

Days 9 & 10

Day 9 turned out to be quite a nice day with plenty of sunshine so a nice dog walk to and round my local park took care of most of that day’s step count. Day 10 was back to rain again though, the fine drizzly stuff that seems to soak through everything – it was too wet to take the dogs far so even though I don’t particularly like going into town I went, and boosted the step count by mooching around the shops. It was fine again by the early evening though, so the dogs finally got a reasonable walk and I managed to exceed the daily target.

Days 7 & 8

Just in case anyone thinks I’ve given up on the challenge because I’ve not updated the blog recently, nothing could be further from the truth – I’m still hitting over 10,000 steps each day. The main reason I’ve not updated things recently is that it’s a bit of a pain connecting the camera to the pc and going through well over two thousand photos every night just to download one, so I’ve waited until I had a quite a lot to download and I’ve done them all at once.
Day 7 was another miserable wet day when it rained most of the time, but I did find a rather quirky way to add to my step count while cleaning round the boss’s bungalow. It’s quite a long bungalow with wood effect lino all through, so when it came to mopping the floor I left the bucket in the kitchen while I mopped the rooms at the far end, meaning every time I wanted to rinse out the mop I had to walk the length of the house to do it, which added a few dozen steps to the total. By early evening the rain had stopped and by 8pm the sun was shining so the dogs finally got a decent walk and I managed to exceed my daily target.

Day 7
Day 8 was yet another wet day but the rain had stopped by the time I left work just after 6pm and by early evening the sun was shining again, so a combination of extra work during the day and a very pleasant evening dog walk made sure that my target was exceeded by more than a thousand steps.
